Band Family, Alumni, Friends, and Supporters -

It is is with a heavy heart that we must pass along some sad news about one of our most faithful and loyal fans.  Charles Schronce, our beloved "FAN MAN," passed away this past Saturday, September 26 after complications and injuries sustained from a heart attack and a car accident earlier this month.  Charles and his wife, Mary, have been long-time supporters of the East Lincoln Mustang Band.  For over 15 years, and since his daughters Tonya and Becky joined the ELHS "Showband of the Carolinas", the "FAN MAN" and his "Sidekick" have traveled extensively with the band.  They have both cheered on and encouraged countless members of the Mustang Band throughout the years.  Even if the band members didn't know Charles' real name, they always looked for their "FAN MAN" in the top of the stands opening and closing his big orange fan that read "I am an East Lincoln Fan."  We know that there are untold numbers of alumni and parents out there who have very fond memories of the "FAN MAN."  To say that Charles will be sorely missed by so many of us is more than just an understatement.  He will always live in the spirit and heart of our band, and his story will continue to inspire all of us for a lifetime.

We extend our sympathy to Charles' wife and "Sidekick", Mary, and his daughter, Tonya, alumnus of the ELHS Band.  We are all praying for you and wish you peace as  you deal with this difficult time.

If you are interested in attending the memorial services for Mr. Schronce, his funeral will be held at Warlick Funeral Home  Chapel on Tuesday, September 29 at 4:00 PM.  The family has asked that all memorials be made to the ELHS Band program in memory of "THE FAN MAN."
