 The East Lincoln High School Mustang Band, the "Showband of the Carolinas" is the largest student organization at East Lincoln High School. As one of the most successful organizations at ELHS, the Mustang Band has enjoyed nearly 30 years of award-winning success locally, regionally and nationally. It has appeared in multiple Bands of America Regionals and has appeared at the BOA Grand Nationals event. The band is under the current Direction of Mr. Brent Harris. Past directors include Mr. Dustin B. Stamey (2003-2011)Mr. Neil S. Underwood (1983 - 2003) and Mr. Steve Scruggs (? - 1983). Cheval Colorguard is a vital part of the Marching Band’s entire package.
This group starts it's journey in the late Spring, during Rookie Training, and is by audition only. The Colorguard is instructed by Rachel Stamey, Caren Kimbrell and Zakia Ruffin.
Cheval Winter Guard meets in the late Fall / early Spring semesters and rehearses totally outside of the school day. Membership is by audition only and requires that you be able to acheive a high level of excellence in dance as well as equipment technique. This group will travel and compete at local, state, regional and national level contests. Rachel Stamey, Caren Kimbrell and Zakia Ruffin are the instructors for the WGI World Championship Scholastic A Finalist "Cheval" Winterguard. |

All Freshmen band students are members of the ELHS Symphonic Band, unless otherwise appointed by the Band Director. This class is the transitional and developmental level band to Grade V and VI music. The band has had a very successful record at State Concert Festival, never bringing home anything less than an “Excellent,” and eight out of the past twelve years has earned “Superior” ratings. The Symphonic Band is the “growing” area for the Wind Ensemble and the Marching Band. |

The Wind Ensemble is a very selective advanced level group of young musicians. This band is the Grade V and VI level concert ensemble at ELHS. Generally this ensemble is comprised of juniors and senior that have exemplified a high level of acheivement on their instrument. This ensemble boasts many years of "Superior" ratings at State Concert Band MPAs. Admission to the Wind Ensemble is by audition or Director recommendation only. |

The East Lincoln Jazz Ensemble meets weekly after school during the spring semester and is currently under the direction of Mr. Patrick Brown. The jazz ensemble is committed to the performance and understanding of jazz, most specifically the Big Band Era style. This group performs on the spring concert and participates in jazz festivals upon the director's discretion. The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award will awarded to the student with the most outstanding performance in Jazz Ensemble at the end of the semester. Membership to this group is by director's approval. |
